Model School for Visually Handicapped (MSVH) is a premier co-educational school for visually handicapped/blind/partially blind children located in Dehradun. Model School for the Visually Handicapped was inaugurated on 4th January 1959 by Govt. of India on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Louis Braille, the inventor of Braille script that facilitates teaching and learning for the blind. The school functions under the aegis of NIVH (National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities, Divyanganj)(Ministry of Social Justice Empowerment, Govt of India). The school is affiliated to CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) New Delhi. The school provides quality education to students from Nursery to Class XII. The school provides various services including the benefits of free education, boarding and lodging, uniform, books and equipment.

Curriculum & Facilities at Model School of Visually Handicapped, Dehradun

Model School for the Visually Handicapped goes by the curriculum of the CBSE pattern and syllabus and offers Humanities as a choice of subject in class XI and XII. The school also introduces Computer education form Class III onward. The school has four libraries to provide assistance in better learning. There is a separate Talking Book Library, School Library, Braille Library and Print Library.
